We accept that the security of foreign missions is our responsibility

We accept that the responsibility for ensuring the security of foreign missions is ours.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, referring to the attack on the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran last February, says that although this incident had many ambiguities and was a personal revenge, we accept that the responsibility for ensuring the security of missions and diplomatic premises lies with the host country.

He added that all countries have a responsibility to protect diplomatic premises and personnel, but in today’s world, such incidents are not strange enough to lead to the closure of a country’s embassy.

Iran recently released a female citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan who had been accused of espionage on the 6th of August, and handed her over to Baku. This action may be an attempt to improve relations with this northwestern neighbor.
