The Difference Between OPEC Statistics and the Deputy Minister of Oil's Claim on Oil Production

The difference between OPEC statistics and the claimed figure by the Deputy Minister of Oil regarding oil production

The latest OPEC statistics show that Iran’s oil production is much lower than the figure recently mentioned by the Deputy Minister of Oil of the Islamic Republic.

Mohsen Khajestehmehr, the Deputy Minister of Oil, recently claimed that oil production in the country will reach 35 million barrels per day with an increase of 250,000 barrels until the end of the current Iranian month of Shahrivar.

Therefore, the current oil production of the country is 325 million barrels per day.

However, the latest OPEC statistics show that this figure is only 2.828 million barrels, which has a difference of 422,000 barrels compared to the statements of the Deputy Minister of Oil.

According to the latest OPEC statistics published on August 10th, Iran’s daily oil production had increased by 274,000 barrels during the first seven months of 2023, and it is still one million barrels less than the level of production before the US sanctions.
