The Birth of the First Iranian Yellow Deer in Lorestan

The first yellow Iranian deer is born in Lorestan

After years of being away from its original habitat, the first yellow Iranian deer calf is born in the mountains of Khorramabad, Iran

In 1401, a total of 10 yellow Iranian deer were transferred from the breeding sites of Dasht-e Naz Sari and Eesar Center in Karaj to Lorestan province and the Zagros mountains, which used to be their main habitat in the past. Now, in the breeding season on May 13, 2023, the first yellow Iranian deer is born in Lorestan, Iran.

Ali Salarvand, the Director General of Environmental Protection in Lorestan province, confirmed the news and stated that the newborn calf is in suitable and stable conditions and is being cared for by the site officials and the relevant veterinarian along with its mother.

However, the birth of this yellow Iranian deer has been accompanied by concerns and questions that are related to the incident of the death of the Iranian deer fawn due to negligence. Previously, the Iranian deer fawn died at the age of eight months due to kidney problems and improper administration of antibiotics shortly after birth.
