Spending 30 trillion tomans to revive Lake Urmia

Only 30 trillion tomans have been spent on reviving Lake Urmia in vain.

The former head of the Lake Urmia revival headquarters says that the government of Ebrahim Raisi has allocated only about 3% of the funds for the revival of the lake, which has put the entire northwest region of Iran at risk.

Eisa Kalantari explained in an interview with ILNA on Tuesday, June 1, that more people have realized that if the lake does not exist, the entire economy of the region will be destroyed, yet environmental protection has no place in the national economy.

He added that about 30 trillion tomans have been spent in rials from the country’s public resources or in foreign currency, and by withdrawing from the National Development Fund, for the revival of Lake Urmia, but it has practically had no effect on improving the situation of the lake.
