Import of 241 passenger cars to Iran in the first three months of the year

Iran has imported 241 passenger cars in the first three months of the year.

Iran’s Customs Administration has announced the import of 241 passenger cars into the country in the first three months of the year, with a total value of $56 million.

The majority of imported cars include ambulances and passenger cars with the Zoytit, Changan, and Benz brands.

Pars Khodro Company had the largest share in this area with 90 imported cars valued at $966,000.

Recently, the Guardian Council in Iran approved the parliamentary decision regarding the import of used cars.

Some hope that with an increase in imports and the breaking of the monopoly of major automakers, car prices in Iran will balance out, although heavy tariffs on imported cars will hinder this prospect.

The import tariff for cars with engines from 1500 to 2000 cc has increased from 71 to 91, for cars with engines from 2000 to 2500 cc it has increased from 91 to 131, for cars with engines from 2500 to 3000 cc it has increased from 96 to 161, and for cars above 3000 cc it has increased to 171 percent.
