The United States’ reaction to Ebrahim Raisi’s statements: Everyone should be free to choose their own dress.
The US Department of State has responded to Ebrahim Raisi’s remarks regarding the enforcement of mandatory dress regulations in Iran.
Matthew Miller stated in a press conference last night that the United States believes everyone should be free to choose their own dress.
He mentioned Ebrahim Raisi’s statements and said, as we have previously stated, our belief is that women in Iran and everywhere should be free to choose any dress they want.
He added that Iranian women should not be concerned about government officials using surveillance technology or other methods to control them.
He further stated that the United States is taking action to support human rights and fundamental freedoms of the Iranian people, including women and girls, and collaborating with allies and partners to hold human rights violators accountable.
According to reports from Iranian media, Ebrahim Raisi said in a speech to government supporters yesterday that the unveiling of the hijab will also be addressed. Do not worry.
