Mehdi Yarahi’s case has been referred to the Revolutionary Court by his lawyer.
Mehdi Yarahi’s lawyer has announced that he went to Branch 2 of the Guidance Court today to study his client’s case, but he was informed that the indictment has been sent to the Revolutionary Court.
Mustafa Nili said that due to this reason, he was not able to study the case. He promised to continue pursuing the case after the branch of the court is determined.
Mehdi Yarahi used to be one of the authorized pop singers in the country, with a record of numerous collaborations with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting. But now he is considered one of the most important figures in the music of the recent year’s protests.
In recent weeks, he once again drew attention to the protests against compulsory hijab with the release of his single ‘Rosari To’. Four days after the release of this single, he was arrested on charges of publishing an illegal and immoral song contrary to the customs and ethics of the Islamic society.
In 2019, three cases were filed against Mr. Yarahi with charges such as anti-regime and anti-social propaganda and collusion, due to his protest songs against the regime.
