Will the mechanism of the snapback against Iran be activated?
Cyrus Ahmadi, former Iranian diplomat at the United Nations, said that the decision of the Council of Governors on March 6 depends on whether progress is made during Grossi’s trip to Tehran or not.
Even an imperfect but meaningful progress can lead both sides to accept that there has been progress, and in that case, it is unlikely that the Council will decide to refer Iran’s case to the Security Council on March 6.
Political and international conditions, such as the war in Ukraine and whether the US and Europe are willing to take the risk and implement the snapback, and are prepared for its consequences or not, are political aspects that need to be decided upon.
