The largest military exercise between the US and South Korea in the past 5 years
South Korea and the United States have begun their largest joint military exercise in the past five years. This military maneuver, called Operation Freedom, is scheduled to last for ten days.
Washington and Seoul have intensified their military cooperation in response to what they call the increasing threat from North Korea. The North Korean army launched two strategic cruise missiles from a submarine off the country’s eastern coast on Monday.
This is the latest in a series of prohibited weapons tests by North Korea.
Earlier this month, South Korea revealed that their special forces had previously conducted a simulation exercise on precise attacks on key North Korean facilities by the United States.
