Destruction of Safavid tombstones in Isfahan
Archaeologist Aghil Aghili said that historical tombstones from the Safavid era have been abandoned in the vicinity of Imamzadeh Seyyed Mohammad Khomeinishahr in Isfahan for a long time.
Aghil Aghili stated that these stone graves, adorned with engravings, poems, and inscriptions, most likely belonged to important individuals from this region in the past centuries.
Each of these ancient stone pieces bears specific historical inscriptions carved in various calligraphy styles, religious verses, decorative motifs such as cypress trees and various ornamental patterns. However, today they are left neglected in the Imamzadeh Seyyed Mohammad Khomeinishahr pilgrimage complex in Isfahan province, in the most inappropriate condition, and are directly exposed to natural and human destruction.
