Arms exports from Israel to the Republic of Azerbaijan
According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, publicly available flight data shows that over the past seven years, 92 cargo flights have landed at the Ovda Airbase in Israel, operated by the Azerbaijani airline Silk Way. This is the only airport in Israel through which explosive materials can be transported in and out.
Haaretz adds that Israel has had a strategic alliance with Azerbaijan, a country with a Shia majority, for the past two decades. Israel has sold weapons worth billions of dollars to Azerbaijan in exchange for its oil resources and access to Iran.
