You hear the sound of Venezuelan inflation
Dr. Hossein Abed Tabrizi warns that if we continue on this path, we will have a 50% inflation rate next year unless immediate action is taken by policymakers to address the main cause of rising exchange rates and consequently the general price level. This puts the entire society at risk of experiencing even higher inflation rates.
Let’s not forget the experience of Venezuela. They had inflation similar to ours for years, with a sudden jump to 24% in one year, in 2014. The following year, it reached 63% and in 2016, it skyrocketed to 250%. The prices then exploded and went up by several thousand percent.
