The death of a newborn who was mistakenly left in the refrigerator for 10 hours

Padram Pak Ayin, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Health, has stated that the case of the premature infant who was pronounced dead by the medical staff at a hospital in Shahriar, was born alive. However, the father claims that the baby was alive and has been handed over to the forensic medicine.

He stated that until the official response from the forensic medicine is announced, the various statements regarding the condition and cause of the baby’s death lack certainty and evidential value. If any misconduct or crime has been committed by any of the hospital staff, it will be legally addressed by the relevant authority.

The Tasnim News Agency, quoting Reza Khodayari, the father of the baby, had previously stated that his baby was born at 5 am on Friday. He took the baby to the hospital from Khorramabad and at 8 am, upon entering the refrigerator, he realized that the baby was alive. However, none of the medical staff accepted his claim and considered it a delusion.

The medical staff insisted that this 7-month-old baby had died three days before in the mother’s womb.
