Objection to holding the anniversary ceremony of Simin Daneshvar’s passing

Mohammad Hossein Danaei, the nephew of Jalal Al-e Ahmad, said that permission to hold the anniversary ceremony of Simin Daneshvar’s passing has not been granted due to coinciding with the Sha’ban holidays.

He said, ‘Where should this pain be taken? Who should be told that some tasteless officials even refuse to let the owner enter their own house?’

According to Jalal Al-e Ahmad’s nephew, the objection to holding this ceremony has taken place while the same house is regularly used as a location for other programs with financial motivations.

The house, the residence of Simin Daneshvar and her husband Jalal Al-e Ahmad, is under the control of the Tehran Municipality as a museum.

A group of Simin and Jalal’s family members and friends had requested from the officials of the Cultural Spaces Development Company, affiliated with the Tehran Municipality, to hold a ceremony in memory of them at their own expense in the same house, but faced with objections.
