The ban on the departure of Elnaz Rekabi, the champion of rock climbing in Iran

The head of the Iranian Mountaineering Federation confirmed the news of preventing Elnaz Rekabi, the champion of rock climbing in Iran, from leaving the country. Her participation in a rock climbing competition without a headscarf had caused a sensation.

Reza Zarei, the head of the Iranian Mountaineering Federation, said that yesterday Elnaz Rekabi and her husband intended to travel to Spain, but officials at the airport prevented them from leaving and confiscated Mrs. Rekabi’s passport.

The head of the Iranian Mountaineering Federation referred to administrative matters as the reason for banning the departure of this athlete. He said that after the South Korea competition, Ms. Rekabi was supposed to go to the immigration passport office and take care of her administrative matters, but I don’t know why she didn’t go to solve this problem. After arriving at the airport, Ms. Rekabi was met with enthusiastic reception from the people, but she did not go home. She stayed in a closed location at the National Olympic Academy under the supervision of personal agents, and then went to meet Hamid Sajjadi, the Minister of Sports in Iran.
