Molavi Abdulhamid believes that lifting the hijab in Iran is a result of ineffective policies.
Molavi Abdulhamid Ismaeelzahi, the Friday prayer leader of Zahedan Sunni community, has stated that the phenomenon of removing the hijab in the country is a result of ineffective policies.
In a tweet, he wrote that many women, despite their belief in hijab, use it as a political act and civil disobedience to protest against the current conditions. It has been proven that harsh treatment of the issue yields opposite results. The authorities should address the root causes.
Opposition to mandatory hijab was one of the primary goals of recent protests in Iran. Although the protests are not as intense as the early months of this period of unrest, many women still resist the imposition of hijab and significantly challenge the government’s demand to cover their hair and head.
In recent days, the issue of mandatory hijab compliance has been one of the most newsworthy topics in Iran.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology of Iran announced that they will not provide services to students without hijab.
In recent months, there has also been a wave of closing down commercial centers for serving women without hijab.
