In his Eid al-Fitr message, former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has unprecedentedly criticized the Taliban, stating that the Taliban leaders have become the wealthiest individuals in the history of insurgent movements.

He mentioned that while poverty is rampant in the country, the wealth of Taliban leaders is being accumulated through illegal activities such as arms and drug smuggling.

He referred to the Taliban as a group that has taken the Afghan people hostage in the name of the holy religion of Islam.

On the other hand, in a congratulatory Eid al-Fitr message, Taliban Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund described the Taliban as a servant government and stated that the development and self-sufficiency of the country are among the top priorities of the Islamic Emirate of the Taliban.
