4 synagogues in Manhattan temporarily closed and evacuated following bomb threats
According to the New York Police, 4 synagogues in the Manhattan neighborhood of this major U.S. city were temporarily closed and evacuated following bomb threats.
The New York Police added that emails were sent to these religious sites in which unknown individuals threatened that explosives had been planted in buildings near the synagogues. Consequently, the police closed these synagogues as a precautionary measure and began investigations.
Furthermore, the police stated that a threatening email was sent to the Brooklyn Museum, claiming that the nearby subway station named Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum would be blown up.
Mark Levine, the Manhattan Borough President, wrote on the social network X that all four bomb threats at the Manhattan synagogues were fake. He added that these threats are a clear attempt to intimidate the Jewish community and are unacceptable in our view.
The New York Police stated that no trace of bombs was found at any of the threatened locations, but the police continue their investigations to identify the individuals who sent the emails.
