5 killed in a shooting in northern France
Agence France-Presse reported on Sunday, December 16, about a deadly shooting in two areas, Wormhout and Loon-Plage in northern France, which resulted in the deaths of five people, including two Kurdish Iranian refugees.
According to the French police, the incident initially began in Wormhout, where a 29-year-old man was shot. The attacker then moved towards Loon-Plage near the English Channel, where he killed four more people. The victims included two Kurdish Iranian refugees from Marivan named Hadi and Mohammad, aged 19 and 30, respectively.
Witnesses from the refugee camp in the area have confirmed that these two refugees had previously been rescued by aid forces after an unsuccessful attempt to cross the English Channel. The Loon-Plage area, which hosts several refugee camps, has faced challenges with illegal immigration for years due to its proximity to Britain.
Agence France-Presse wrote that the 22-year-old French attacker, who has no criminal record, went to the police station in the city of Guînes after committing this bloody crime and confessed to his actions.
