Ahmad Vahidi, the Minister of Interior, rejects the statements of doctors regarding the support of governors for Jalili.
Ahmad Vahidi, the Iranian Minister of Interior, has stated that one of the candidates spoke contrary to the truth, alleging that governors and officials are trying to secure votes for a specific candidate. We must observe fairness in our words, and I apologize for the unjust accusations against governors and government officials.
Masoud Pezeshkian, one of the two presidential candidates in Iran’s second round of elections, had previously stated in a debate with Saeed Jalili that in response to his continuous reference to the endorsement of Hassan Rouhani and several former government ministers, dear people, know that the man who wants to be president tomorrow currently has his governors and officials working for him, sometimes even threatening individuals to vote.
Mr. Vahidi said today after the cabinet meeting that this is untrue.
Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili are two candidates who will compete against each other again in the voting on Friday, and according to the law, whoever obtains a sufficient majority will become the president.
