Ali Motahari says that the Islamic dress code is not the country’s main issue.
Ali Motahari, a candidate for the parliamentary elections from the Tehran constituency, stated in a press conference today that most of our people adhere to the Islamic dress code and that the hijab is not the country’s main issue.
Mr. Motahari, who is running in these elections with a list called ‘The Voice of the Nation,’ also mentioned that there is a distinction between modesty and hijab, and that norm-breakers are very few in percentage.
The deputy speaker of the tenth parliament also predicted that voter turnout will be higher than the previous elections.
Mr. Motahari’s remarks come at a time when, according to various reports, the electoral atmosphere in the country is very cold, and many reputable analysts and polls indicate a low turnout across Iran.
