The United States says Ukraine will ultimately join NATO.
The US Secretary of State said on Friday that Ukraine will eventually join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
According to Secretary Antony Blinken, Ukraine enjoys strong support from NATO member countries for joining.
Blinken, after the NATO meeting, told reporters in Brussels that Ukraine will become a NATO member. Our goal at this summit is to help pave the way for this membership.
NATO allies at the 2023 summit in Lithuania agreed that Ukraine could join NATO under certain conditions, but criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Baltic allies about NATO’s inability to meet specific goals and timelines posed a barrier to this.
Supporters of Ukraine are working to demonstrate strong international support for Kyiv in order to announce it at the upcoming NATO meeting in Washington on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the alliance.
