Axios news outlet, which broke the news, reported that Janet Yellen, the US Treasury Secretary, is preparing to impose new sanctions against Iran following the recent attack by the country on Israel.
According to the report, Yellen will introduce the sanctions at the annual IMF conference in Washington later today and will urge her counterparts attending the conference to take similar actions in their own countries.
In a text that Yellen is expected to read today and was seen by Axios, it is stated, ‘We will not hesitate to cooperate with our allies to use the authority to impose sanctions to continue disrupting Iran’s malicious and destabilizing activities.’
