Bahram Beyzaie breaks my hand and does not allow me to censor myself.

The Instagram account belonging to Bahram Beyzaie, a well-known Iranian writer and director, in response to the claim of the head of the Cinema Organization regarding the conditions for the return of artists to Iran, has published parts of Mr. Beyzaie’s famous protest letter to the Ministry of Guidance, which reads as follows:

It is thanks to me and other filmmakers that you sit behind that desk in a room where you behave as if we are slaves and obedient to your orders. Bahram Beyzaie breaks my hand and does not allow me to censor myself.

The head of the Cinema Organization of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance claimed that conditions are ready for the return of many artists like Behrouz Vossoughi to Iran and invited Bahram Beyzaie to make his new film in Iran.

Bahram Beyzaie wrote his famous protest letter in response to the strictness and problems that the officials of the time had created for the screening of the film ‘Mosaferan’ produced in 1991, criticizing the request for censorship that resulted from it to the Cinema Deputy of the Ministry of Guidance.
