The fact-finding committee considers the suppression of women in Iran as a crime against humanity.
The first report of the independent fact-finding committee of the United Nations on Iran was published on Friday, March 8, 18 Esfand. The fact-finding committee, in its preliminary report to the UN Human Rights Council, described the Islamic Republic’s actions in suppressing women’s protests as a serious violation of human rights, which is considered a crime against humanity.
The report states that Iran is responsible for physical violence that led to the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022, following nationwide protests.
