French President Ready to Take Further Restrictive Actions Against Iran, Says EU

The President of France is ready to take further restrictive actions against Iran.

The French President says the European Union and its allies should expand sanctions against Tehran’s missile and drone program following the Islamic Republic’s attack on Israel.

Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday before the start of a European leaders’ meeting to decide on increasing pressure on Iran, ‘It is our duty to expand these sanctions.’

A draft statement from 27 EU members, seen by Reuters, says the European Union is ready to take further restrictive actions against Iran, especially regarding the drone and missile industry.

According to the draft statement of European leaders, they will also unequivocally condemn Iran’s attack and emphasize their commitment to Israel’s security.

Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel was met with Israeli and allied air defense, with the country’s military stating that 99% of the projectiles were intercepted and destroyed.
