The G7 group condemned the extraterritorial repression by the Islamic Republic.
Members of the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism on Friday, September 21, issued a statement condemning the extraterritorial repression and other destructive activities of the Islamic Republic.
In this statement, released by Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union, along with affiliated members of this mechanism including Australia and New Zealand, it is emphasized that the intelligence agencies of the Islamic Republic have increasingly acted in recent years to murder, kidnap, and harass political dissidents abroad.
The G7 statement describes these actions as part of a concerning and unacceptable pattern of extraterritorial repression that clearly undermines the sovereignty of countries.
The statement also points to the exposure of journalists’ personal information and attacks aimed at creating division in societies and intimidating Jewish communities as examples of other destructive activities by the Islamic Republic.
Members of the G7 in this statement emphasized solidarity with countries whose citizens or residents have been targeted by these actions and stated that, in line with the recent G7 leaders’ statement on extraterritorial repression, they will continue to counter foreign interventions and defend the security of their communities.
