Import of electric cars has been authorized.
According to the 1403 budget law, the import of new and used electric and hybrid cars has been officially announced.
Paragraph T of the 9th provision of the 1403 budget law states that, in implementation of Article 9 of the approved clean air law of 1396/25, the import of various new and used passenger cars with less than five years of age, electric, and hybrid, is allowed into the country. The import duty for electric cars for the modernization of urban taxi fleets in 1403 is set at half a percent unit and for other applicants at four percent unit, while the import duty for hybrid gasoline-electric cars is determined at fifteen percent unit.
The Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade is authorized to apply a discount on the payment of import duties for electric, gasoline, and hybrid vehicles and their separate parts, using half of the allocated resources to expand electric public transportation infrastructure, transfer technology, and increase domestic production of electric, gasoline, and hybrid vehicles. The revenue from import duties on these types of vehicles and their separate parts will be used to develop their infrastructure and provide incentives for purchasing these domestically produced vehicles. The Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade is required to prepare the executive regulations of this provision within one month of the enactment of this law and submit it for approval by the Council of Ministers.
