Iran ends its participation in the Volleyball Nations League with a defeat against Germany.
The Iranian national volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat against Germany in their final match of the 2024 Nations League.
This season concluded for Iran with two wins and ten losses, placing them in fifteenth or sixteenth place. Iran’s final ranking depends on the outcome of the last match between Turkey and Italy.
Iran started the season with Brazilian coach Moritzio Paes and ended it with Peyman Akbari. They had their weakest performance in the history of the Nations League, with their only victories this year coming against the United States and the Netherlands.
Germany’s Georg Grozer said he thought the game would be tougher. He advised Iranian players to be patient, as they have a lot of potential and just need to learn how to utilize it.
Moritz Karlitzek scored 21 points for Germany and was the top performer on the court, while Amin Esmaeilnejad earned 19 points for Iran.
Morteza Sharifi, Arashida Behnajad, Alireza Maslahatbadi, Esmaeilnejad, Pouria Khanzadeh, Mohammad Valizadeh, and Arman Salehi were the starting players for Iran.
