The comprehensive cooperation agreement between Iran and Russia has been temporarily suspended.
A Russian Foreign Ministry official says the comprehensive cooperation agreement between Iran and Russia has been temporarily suspended, but the Iranian Ambassador to Moscow has denied this news.
Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday, June 12, quoting Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying that the new agreement between Moscow and Tehran on comprehensive cooperation has been temporarily suspended due to problems faced by the Iranian partners.
He added that this is a strategic decision by the leaders of the two countries, and the process has been halted due to the problems faced by our Iranian partners.
Mr. Ryabkov, who is the Special Representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan and the Director of the Second Asian Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in another interview with the Russian news agency TASS, explained further that work on the comprehensive agreement between Russia and Iran has been suspended due to Tehran’s engagement in the presidential election.
