The judiciary’s reaction to the death sentence of Mahmoud Mehrabi for spreading lies is that they are facing 52 private complainants.
Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, responded to the reflections of Mahmoud Mehrabi’s family, a political prisoner sentenced to death, stating that his case can be appealed in the Supreme Court and mentioning that he faces multiple charges.
According to Mizan, Mahmoud Mehrabi is accused of publishing content related to teaching how to use handmade weapons, inciting the destruction of public property, provoking people to war and massacre, and insulting sanctities during the protests in 2022.
The Iranian judiciary also stated that Mr. Mehrabi is accused of spreading lies by 52 private complainants, and his trial was held with the presence of his two lawyers.
Yesterday, Mr. Mehrabi’s sister, in a video she released, mentioned that her brother has been tried for his online activities, and because the judge did not see any signs of remorse on her brother’s face, he sentenced him to death.
Mahmoud Mehrabi is one of the detained protesters during the protests for women’s freedom that started after the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody. He was arrested by the intelligence forces of the Revolutionary Guards on February 1, 2023, and is currently being held in Isfahan Central Prison.
