Khuzestan Environmental Protection Agency reported the spread of fire to the Iranian section of Hoor Al-Azim

The General Directorate of Environmental Protection in Khuzestan reported the spread of fire to the Iranian section of Hor al-Azim.

The state news agency IRNA quoted Davoud Mirshakar, the director general of environmental protection in Khuzestan, as saying that 500 hectares of the reed beds of Hor al-Azim marshes have been burned. According to this government official, the recent fire had engulfed reservoir No. 1 of the marsh in the Iranian section since Tuesday.

Farhad Gholinjehad, the deputy of the General Directorate of Environmental Protection in Khuzestan province, announced the spread of the recent fire from the Iraqi section of Hor al-Azim marsh to the Iranian section. He mentioned that despite requests from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic and Iraq, no results have been achieved yet.

Gholinjehad stated on Thursday that the fire in the Iraqi section of Hor al-Azim marsh started on Monday, July 15, and has now spread to the Iranian section. At the same time, the director general of this department reported the containment of the fire.
