Leader of South Korea's People Power Party announces resignation following defeat in elections

The leader of the People Power Party in South Korea announced his resignation following a defeat in the elections.

The conservative People Power Party, ruling in the South Korean parliamentary elections, suffered a defeat against the Democratic Party. Following this defeat, the leader of the People Power Party announced that he would resign.

Based on the counted votes, the Democratic Party has managed to secure 175 out of 300 parliamentary seats for itself.

Following the announcement of the preliminary results of these elections, South Korean media reported that Han Duck-soo, the Prime Minister and leader of the ruling party, along with his senior deputies, intend to resign by accepting defeat in the elections.

Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, in response to the election results, stated that his party’s top priority will be to improve South Korea’s economic conditions.
