The Minister of Communications’ reaction to the disruption of Eita was due to a hardware issue that has been resolved.

Issa Zar’afor, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Iran, has stated about the disruptions of the domestic messaging app Eita that it had a hardware issue which has been resolved, and the effort is to prevent people from experiencing these disruptions.

The domestic messaging app Eita has been experiencing consecutive disruptions in recent months, but Zar’afor mentioned today, Thursday, 15th of Farvardin, on the sidelines of the cabinet meeting that the presence of disruptions in messaging apps is natural, but not their repetition.

He promised that the quality of domestic messaging apps will improve and they are in the process of launching a second data center for them. According to him, by launching the second data center, these issues will be resolved.

A few years ago, Iranian officials launched domestic messaging apps to replace them with messaging apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, and others.

There are approximately 9 active domestic messaging apps in Iran.
