Moein al-Din Saeedi, a representative of 400,000 people in Sistan and Baluchestan province, are affected by floods.

Moein al-Din Saeedi, a member of the parliament, spoke about the floods in the southern Sistan and Baluchestan province. He expressed his regret over the recent severe rainfall, which was even more intense due to Cyclone Gono. He mentioned that the southern cities are severely affected by floods, lacking crisis management infrastructure. Main roads, especially in Chabahar, Konarak, and Qasr-e Qand, are blocked. In these circumstances, he expects some attention to be paid to the people, and he emphasized that the elections should not overshadow everything. He requested the Red Crescent and crisis management to show concern. He also expects the army, with their helicopters, to not abandon the people, preventing the region from becoming a disaster area. He urged the central authorities to pay attention and assist in opening roads, providing necessary livelihood support, which is critically needed.

He mentioned the lack of helicopters and stated that the presence of helicopters would save acute patients and especially pregnant women. The medical university’s helicopter is out of order and even Red Crescent friends couldn’t send a helicopter. We also expect the army and the Revolutionary Guard, who have the most helicopters, to bring all their capabilities to the field. Conditions are getting harder by the minute, and the volume of flooding is such that people have not experienced before. There is no crisis management infrastructure, and roads and bridges are underwater. The crisis center is in Dashtiyari, which includes parts of Talang, Pirsahrab, and Dampak. The total population affected by the flood is close to 400,000 people, and 150 villages are severely challenged.

Saeedi talked about the needs of Sistan, saying that living conditions have become very difficult, and people are facing serious problems in terms of bread and food packages. I am here right now with the Red Crescent organization to follow up on these issues.
