Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s eligibility was confirmed.

While recently elected as the head of the parliament on June 3, 2024, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf registered to run for the presidency in the fourteenth presidential election and his eligibility was confirmed today.

Ghalibaf, who served as the mayor of Tehran for three four-year terms from 2005 to 2017, is currently a member of the Expediency Discernment Council. In the eleventh parliamentary elections, he succeeded in becoming the first candidate from Tehran constituency to enter the parliament. On May 27, 2020, he was elected as the parliament speaker with the majority of votes cast by the representatives.
