The American news agency Reuters boycotted the United Nations memorial service for Raisi.

Reuters reported that the US government will boycott the ceremony on Friday at the United Nations to pay respects to Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran who was recently killed in an air crash.

An unnamed American official told the news agency, ‘We will not participate in this event in any way.’

The official also said that the United Nations should stand by the people of Iran, rather than holding a memorial service for a repressive figure who has been in power for decades. Raisi has been involved in numerous horrific human rights violations, including the mass executions of thousands of prisoners in 1988.
