Russia claims Ukraine drone attack on Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant

The management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is under Russian control, reported an attack by Ukrainian drones on the dome of reactor number 6 of this atomic power plant.

Russian authorities announced on Monday, April 9, that the natural radiation levels are normal and that this drone attack did not cause serious damage or significant casualties.

It is still unclear what weapons were used in this attack, according to Reuters.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, which has experts on site, stated that it was informed of this drone attack by the power plant under Russian control, and the information received is consistent with the agency’s observations.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has six water-cooled and moderated reactors designed during the former Soviet era, containing uranium-235.
