Human Rights Watch said in an investigative report that Iranian authorities and military forces use excessive and deadly force against porters in border areas.
The international organization announced in a report on Tuesday, the nineteenth of Tir month, that based on interviews with porters, it concluded that these individuals have limited access to justice and Iranian authorities mistreat detained porters.
This report points out that the Iranian government’s suppression and marginalization of Iranian Kurdish communities, along with high rates of poverty and unemployment, are cited as major drivers for portering in Kurdistan.
