The U.S. Senate approved a bill banning the import of uranium from Russia by a unanimous vote.

Simultaneously with the U.S.’s efforts to assist Ukraine in countering Russia’s invasion of the country, the U.S. Senate approved a bill banning the import of uranium from Russia by a unanimous vote on Tuesday, April 11.

The U.S. Senate approved this bill without any objections.

Earlier in December last year, the House of Representatives had approved this bill.

According to Reuters, the imported uranium from Russia is used to supply the fuel needed for nuclear power plants in the U.S.

After Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February 2022, the U.S. banned the import of oil from this country.
