The United States and Ukraine sign a security agreement.
The United States and Ukraine are planning to sign a bilateral security agreement on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Italy on Friday, June 13, 2024. This news was announced by Jake Sullivan, the White House National Security Advisor, while flying to Switzerland.
According to US sources, this agreement includes the delivery of weapons and support for Ukraine, but the deployment of US troops to Ukraine is not considered in it.
So far, 15 countries have signed security agreements with Ukraine.
Jake Sullivan considered the signing of this agreement as a bridge to Ukraine’s potential membership in the NATO North Atlantic Treaty and said this bridge is formed by helping Ukraine secure its independence and preserve its territorial integrity.
Sullivan further explained that our assistance will continue into the distant future, especially in the defense and security realm. If Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, thinks he can thwart NATO’s support for Ukraine, he is mistaken.
