The head of the agricultural guild system says three times the country's need for rice has been imported

The head of the agricultural guild system announced that three times the country’s need for rice has been imported.

According to official Iranian media, Qasem Pishehvar, the head of the agricultural guild system, stated that in recent years, three times the country’s need for rice has been imported.

Qasem Pishehvar said that according to the statistics announced by the Ministry of Jihad, we need 500,000 to 600,000 tons of rice annually for strategic reserves, but unfortunately, in recent years, 1.7 to 2 million tons of rice have been imported into the country.

According to this report, the excessive amount of imports of this product beyond the country’s actual needs has caused domestic rice farmers to protest against the lack of sales of their products and being exposed to corruption.
