Two human rights organizations have asked Masoud Pezeshkian to put an end to the harassment of Kolbars in Iran

Two human rights organizations have called for an end to the harassment of couriers in Iran by Masoud Pezeshkian.

Human Rights Watch and the Center for Human Rights Supporters on Tuesday, July 15, jointly called on the authorities of the Islamic Republic during Masoud Pezeshkian’s presidency to stop the excessive and deadly use of force at the Iran-Iraq border against couriers. They say these couriers are mainly Kurdish and marginalized from society.

These two organizations referred to Masoud Pezeshkian’s statements a month ago during election campaigning in Sanandaj, where he said it is shameful that our youth are working as couriers for a piece of bread. We should create a border that facilitates trade, not courier work. According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, just three days after Pezeshkian’s election, five couriers were targeted by gunfire at the border near Nosoud Kermanshah, and one of them was killed.
