A member of the Parliament’s presidium announced a new plan for monitoring and dealing with celebrities on social media.
He spoke about the latest efforts of the government to oversee and control online content, saying that we currently have plans in the Parliament to obligate the judiciary to take responsibility for individuals when they post messages on social media. This concerns those with a social image, known as celebrities.
Referring to the recent protests in Iran, he said that in these recent issues, a certain actor or player spreads a lie and disrupts the entire psychological security of society.
In recent years, the Iranian government has been seeking to monitor the digital space.
The Islamic Republic, by forming institutions such as the Supreme Council of Cyberspace and the cyber police, and by approving various plans including the ‘protection plan’, has attempted to gain control over the digital space.
