A new account of the behind-the-scenes of the royal wedding in the book by the royal butler

Prince Philip breathed a sigh of relief after the much-talked-about wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018

Grant Harrold, the former butler of the royal family, recounts in his new book titled The Royal Butler, which will be published in September, that when all the wedding ceremonies concluded and first the young couple and then other members of the royal family exited the church, Prince Philip turned to the Queen and muttered, ‘Thank God this damn thing is over.’

Harry and Meghan’s wedding was held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, attended by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who passed away in 2022 and 2021, respectively.

Two years later, Harry and Meghan made a controversial decision to step back from royal duties and relocated to California.

They now live in America with their two children, six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet.

According to Harrold, although Philip did not agree with this decision, he did not interfere and believed that everyone should lead their life as they see fit.

He considered Harry a good man and understood his need for independence.
