An opponent of the Russian government was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

A court in Russia sentenced one of the most prominent government opponents to 25 years in prison. Critics have described this sentence as politically motivated and aimed at silencing dissent.

Vladimir Kara-Murza has been accused of treason and spreading false information about the Russian military. He has repeatedly protested against human rights violations and government corruption and has opposed Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

Mr. Kara-Murza described his trial as reminiscent of the Stalin era and said that Russia will be free one day. Meanwhile, Japan has officially protested against the Russian Navy’s military exercises and missile tests in the Sea of Japan.

These exercises were conducted around the disputed islands between the two countries near Hokkaido Island. Russian state television broadcast images of this military maneuver, describing it as a drill to counter enemy naval forces.

According to reports, part of these exercises included reconnaissance aircraft flights to track submarines.
