A soldier in Bam ended his life by shooting himself.

Following recent news of suicides or killings in Iran, the prosecutor of Bam announced that a soldier in this county had ended his life by shooting himself with a military bullet.

According to Mehr News Agency, Behnam Jafarizadeh, the revolutionary prosecutor of Bam in Kerman province, without mentioning the identity of this soldier, stated that he was one of the guards of the judicial protection forces of this county and that he ended his life on Friday afternoon, 10th of Esfand, while on guard duty with a Kalashnikov rifle.

Mr. Jafarizadeh also mentioned that based on preliminary investigations, this soldier returned to his service unit after a few hours of leave and committed suicide while alone in the guard room after handing over the post.

Military service in Iran is mandatory and according to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, all Iranian men over 18 years old, except for certain exceptions, must serve 24 months in the military.
