A soldier in Bam ended his life by gunfire

Following recent news about the suicide or murder-suicide of several soldiers in Iran, Bam’s prosecutor announced that a soldier in this city ended his life with a gunshot.

According to Mehr News Agency, Behnam Jafarizadeh, the revolutionary prosecutor of Bam in Kerman province, stated without mentioning the soldier’s identity that he was among the physical security soldiers of the judiciary in this city and ended his life with a Kalashnikov assault rifle on the afternoon of Thursday, March 1st, while on guard duty.

Mr. Jafarizadeh also mentioned that based on initial investigations, the soldier returned to his unit after a few hours of hourly leave and committed suicide in the guard booth after handing over his post while he was alone.

Military service in Iran, known as compulsory military service, is mandatory, and according to the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, all Iranian men over the age of 18, except for those exempted, must serve for 24 months.
