The conviction of Abbas Jadidi was confirmed following the complaint by Dabir.
With the appellate court’s confirmation, the conviction of the former world wrestling champion and Olympic titleholder became final following the complaint by the president of the wrestling federation.
Some time ago, Alireza Dabir, the 2000 Sydney Olympic champion, filed a legal complaint against Abbas Jadidi, the world and Olympic titleholder, for slander and defamation.
The former world wrestling champion and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic silver medalist had reacted to Alireza Dabir and his actions on social media, which led to the wrestling federation president’s complaint.
Following Dabir’s complaint regarding insults and the spread of false information online, the court found the overall behavior in line with the offense of insult and sentenced Abbas Jadidi to pay a fine of 200 million rials to the state treasury and to remove all criminal content from his Instagram page.
With Abbas Jadidi’s appeal against this verdict, the case went to the appellate court, where the previous ruling was upheld and became enforceable.
After the passing of Abbas Jadidi’s brother, the president of the wrestling federation also attended the memorial service for the late Alireza Jadidi.
