Afsharian’s Confessions Reveal At Least 15 Match-Fixing Incidents in Premier and First Division Leagues
Khoddad Afsharian, the former head of the referees’ committee who is currently in prison, has implicated a number of referees and assistant referees from the Premier League in the corruption and match-fixing case in Iranian football through his confessions.
According to Jam-e Jam newspaper, affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, it appears that Afsharian has confessed that these match-fixing incidents have disrupted the equations of the Premier League and the First Division in recent years. It is said that the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic is rigorously pursuing match-fixing within the refereeing community.
